The History of Fan-Stix
The idea for Fan-Stix started with my son’s participation in the Ford Ironman Triathlon in Couer d’Alene, Idaho, on June 24, 2007. Wanting to be sure Chris could see us in the crowd, cheering him on during the race, we came up with a way he could easily pick out his personal cheering section and we could be “seen above the crowd.” The day before the race, we had his photo enlarged, glued it onto a piece of foam board, cut out around it with a box cutter, taped it to a sign stick and made an 18” tall “Chris on a stick.” Our friends did one for their athlete also, or “Dave on a stick.”
The day of the race, there were 10,000 volunteers, families and friends at the event. The response to our signs was overwhelming. Chris and Dave could pick us out of the crowd when they saw their pictures being waved proudly above the crowd! Many people asked us where we got our signs and how much they had cost. The more we thought about it and talked it over, the more we liked the idea of starting a business. Thus the idea for Fan-Stix was born. The day we got home from the race, we purchased a saw, foam board and spray mount and began cutting out pictures. We tried different types of boards and plastic stock, and the product just kept getting better. The rest is history in the making.
We developed a website, http://www.fan-stix.com/, logo and brochures. We have a booth, company shirts, and cameras on hand. The interest and response have been great.
We have now expanded our product line to include desktop cutouts, magnets, buttons, ornaments, signs, greeting cards and stands. Photo products are laminated to preserve photos and add protection from scratches. All are made with durable, top quality materials.
Our experience comes form a lifetime of taking pictures, making photo greeting cards, and scrap booking. Our experience with saws, drills, screwdrivers and wood comes from helping with projects around the house.
Our customized Fan-Stix are perfect for church events, sporting events, birthdays, anniversaries, campaigns, weddings, new babies and any other celebration in people’s lives. We look forward to picture day and opening day events.
